"News In A Flash!": Quick Game Show Updates (Part 17)

This week's article is dedicated to keeping you updated with the latest in game show news, ratings, and more, from a merry Match Game marathon to NBC picking up another game show series. Here we go!

GSN will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of Match Game with a 9-hour Mega Match Game Marathon on Christmas Day starting at 8am.

In addition to the Match Game Marathon, GSN will also be airing marathons of The American Bible Challenge (Dec. 23), Minute To Win It (Dec. 24), Pyramid (Dec. 31), and Deal or No Deal (Jan. 1).

This was not the best week for syndicated game shows as Wheel's ratings dropped 4% to a 7.2, Family Feud fell 6% down to 4.2, and NBCUniversal's Baggage fell 8% do a dismal 1.1 rating.

Meanwhile, the ratings for Jeopardy! and Disney-ABC's Millionaire were not affected by the decline in ratings this week as both shows remained flat at a 6.5 and 2.4.

NBC has picked up a new primetime game show series called Hollywood Game Night. Eight episodes have been ordered for the first season of the Sean Hayes-produced series.

In a recent Entertainment Tonight interview, Howie Mandel defended Take It All's controversial gift-stealing format saying that "the game show is a fair representation of society".

All this week, GSN has gotten into the holiday spirit with the week-long "7 Days of Winning" Sweepstakes. Visit GSN.com for more information about signing up for a chance to win amazing prizes.

Not Necessarily Game Show News: LA Reid will not be returning to FOX's The X Factor as a judge. Reid has decided to return to the music business full time on his own merit.

CCTV has picked up a Chinese version of You Deserve It from German distributor Red Arrow International. The series will premiere next month under the name Wei Ni Er Zhan (I Fight For You).

Old news, but FYI: Average viewer ratings for the six-night event of Take It All: a subpar 4.42 million viewers.

This Christmas, The Hub will be getting into the holiday spirit by airing back-to-back holiday-themed episodes of Family Game Night starting at 12pm.
