BREAKING NEWS: The CW Renews "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" For a Tenth Season

After two weeks of airing brand new episodes with an excellent cast and an upgraded set, The CW has decided to renew Whose Line Is It Anyway? for a tenth season. It's no surprise that the network decided to make the move to bring the show back next summer as Whose Line? has brought in The CW's highest ratings since Supernatural. To put this into perspective, the lowest viewership this show has received was 1.59 million -- on a Friday night 8:30 rerun, considering the network usually averages a little over one million viewers per show during primetime. Not only that, the series premiere nearly drew in 3 million viewers, a staggering figure for The CW's standards. If you haven't seen a new episode yet, go to CWtv.com and check out an episode today!

The Good and The Bad: Quick Reviews of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" and "Perfect Score"

Last night was a busy night for game shows, with NBC rerunning the series premiere of the star-studded Hollywood Game Night and GSN airing two new episodes of Minute To Win It. However, the spotlight was on The CW for the evening with the highly anticipated return of Whose Line Is It Anyway? and the series premiere of the network's new dating game show Perfect Score. Unlike my usual, extensive reviews, I will be briefly reviewing both CW shows in today's articles.

FOX Orders "Step Up" Game Show Pilot From Endemol USA

It looks like Endemol is at it again as it has made motions sell a pilot for a second new game show for another major network within a week of NBC's sealing the deal of ordering Wall of Fame. FOX has ordered a pilot from the production company for a game show called Step Up. Step Up will be hosted by comedian Andy Richter, from Conan, and will offer contestants "life-changing" amounts of money if they are bold and brave enough to successfully climb a cash pyramid. During their ascent, contestant will be faced with bigger risks and tough decisions on whether to continue "stepping up" or play it safe and keep the cash they have won. Endemol North America chairman and CEO David Goldberg says the new series "is everything you hope for in a game show. It's a clean and straightforward premise, filled with high stakes and drama, played on a spectacular stage."

NBC Picks Up "Wall of Fame" For Eight Episodes

A few days ago, I had written about "a major network" casting for a new game show called Wall of Fame. It looks like the "major network" that will be picking up new show will be NBC. The announcement was made today that NBC has ordered eight episodes of the hour-long game show. As the producers, Endemol USA is looking to to add another hit game show to its résumé in addition to Deal or No Deal and Wipeout with the pending premiere of the new primetime series. On Wall of Fame, families can win big bucks by answering pop culture trivia questions correctly and by guessing whether or not members of the celebrity "Wall of Fame" can provide correct answers to the same questions.

Updates For ABC Family's "Spell-Mageddon" Including Host and In-Game Challenges

About two months ago, I had written an article concerning the official premiere of the cable network's upcoming game showSpell-MageddonThe one-hour show premieres July 24 at 9:00pm EST and engages contestants in an outrageous spelling bee where they have to spell challenging words while taking on hilarious distractions. Think of it as the Scripps National Spelling Bee meets Distraction. Former Catch 21 host Alfonso Ribeiro will be the emcee for the new series and some of the mini-games within the show include "Buzzed-In", "Zapped", "Sensory Overload" and "In Your Face".

Ryan Seacrest Nearing Deal To Host NBC's "The Million Second Quiz"

This fall, Ryan Seacrest could be seen on three of the "Big Four" networks. Seacrest is close to sealing the deal as the host of NBC's upcoming reality quiz show The Million Second Quiz. The primetime quizzer will be broadcasted live in the heart of Manhattan and will see its contestants compete in a game of knowledge and endurance for 12 days, or over one million seconds, straight. The contestants will be essentially living in an hourglass-shaped structure for the entire competition and the top winner could win as much as $10 million. The television host's only issue with accepting the deal is if it will interfere with his other jobs, as he is also the host of his show Clear Channel radio show and could be traveling for the American Idol auditions in the fall.

Game On!: Top 10 Game Shows Based On Board Games

Next week, NBC’s latest primetime game show Hollywood Game Night will premiere on July 11 at 10:00pm. According to Jane Lynch, the concept of Hollywood Game Night is based on the “notorious game nights” producer Sean Hayes holds in his home. Sounds familiar? Well, that is because this is similar to how the late 1980s NBC game show Win, Lose or Draw was born, as the show was based on Burt Reynolds’ game nights and the show’s set was modeled after his living room. In honor of the show’s upcoming premiere, I will be counting down the top ten game shows based on popular and, perhaps, not so common board games often played at game nights. It’s been a while since I have done this, but here we go! Enjoy!

BREAKING NEWS: GSN Renews "The Chase" For A Second Season

No, this is not a typo; you read the headline correctly: GSN has already ordered a second season of the network's newest original series, The Chase, before the show's debut Tuesday, August 6 at 9:00pm EST. The show is now casting for its second season and production is scheduled to begin in August. If you think you have the speed, confidence, bravery and knowledge to take on "The Beast", go to GSN's and ITV Studios' The Chase Casting Central website for more information. Paul Buccieri, the Managing Director for ITV Studios International and President and CEO for ITV Studios America, "couldn't be more delighted with the support that GSN has give The Chase and [is] thrilled that it has been picked up for a second season." As The Chase has become a staple for ITV in U.K. (as the show will be entering into its seventh series soon), I hope that U.S. adaption of the high stakes, fast-paced quizzer will become a staple for GSN.
