Game Show Spotlight: Next Week’s Premiere of Millionaire With Cedric "The Entertainer" as Host

As we are quickly approaching to the 12th season premiere of the syndicated version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, we will soon discover how comedian Cedric Kyles will fare on the show. The show, which will return Monday, September 2, has already released teaser promos for the upcoming season and I’m looking forward to Cedric’s tenure as host. The announcement was made in March about four months after Meredith Vieira taped her final show. Soon, Cedric will join the ranks of past Millionaire hosts, both permanent and temporary, including Regis Philbin, Hollywood Squares’ Tom Bergeron, Wipeout’s John Henson and Family Feud’s Steve Harvey.

"Hollywood Game Night" Returns For Second Season

It has been a while since NBC has had a hit summer game show, with the last one being Minute To Win It a couple of years ago. It looks like Hollywood Game Night is on its way to being a staple for NBC's summer schedule as the primetime game show has been renewed for a second season. In case you are not familiar with the show, Hollywood Game Night lets ordinary people play games with some of the biggest names in Hollywood for a shot at $25,000. The show has averaged solid ratings between 3.5 and 4 million viewers in its current 10:00pm Thursday time slot and "retain[ed] 85% of the premiere ratings", according to Paul Telegdy, NBC President of Alternative and Late-Night Programming. With an excellent host like Jane Lynch and a solid, entertaining format, it does not come as a shock that this show has been renewed for a second season. Celebrities who have participated in the show this season include Nick Cannon, Amy Poehler, Martin Short and Al Roker. Personally, I can't wait for which stars will be playing next season.

"The American Bible Challenge" Returns For Third Season

Considering how well this series has done on GSN for the two years it has been on the network, this news should not be surprising to anyone. Jeff Foxworthy and musical director and co-host Kirk Franklin will be back next year for another competitive season of The American Bible Challenge. The network has ordered nine episodes for the third season, which is scheduled to premiere in 2014. The show will once again put 18 teams to the ultimate test of Bible trivia. The first team to win three games, or two if they are a "Wild Card" finalist, will win over $140,000 for the charity of their choice. According to Tom Forman, CEO of Relativity Television, The American Bible Challenge is "a show [that] perfectly hits that sweet spot of exciting competition blended with real heart".

Good, Better, Best: A Brief Recap of GSN's "Big" Tuesday Night, Including "The Chase" Ratings

Yesterday was a great night for GSN for three reasons: Minute To Win It saw its largest viewing audience all season, The Chase premiered to respectable ratings and GSN history was made. Aside from the premieres of Big Bucks: The Press Your Luck Scandal and The American Bible Challenge, last night was one of the most anticipated events in the history of the network that did not disappoint. Last night, over 1.5 million people watched GSN's schedule of new original shows. Tonight's article will highlight the three aforementioned GSN milestones, and it all begins with "the good".
