"Family Game Night" Review

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday!

Since this is my very first review, let's go over some rules, shall we?
I rate each show from a scale of 1 (horrible beyond belief) to 10 (superb!!!). An "average" game show would receive a rating of 6. Here's the rating scale for each factor, including the overall rating:

10: PERFECT!
9: EXCELLENT
8: GREAT
7: GOOD
6: AVERAGE
5: BELOW AVERAGE
4: AWFUL
3: TERRIBLE
2: BAD
1: WHY ARE YOU WATCHING THIS?!

The overall rating of each show will be determined by six factors that I deem to be important in order to have a successful game show:

1. Set Design- The overall design of the game stage for the show (It's kinda self-explanatory)
2. Gameplay- The rules of the game, the cash and prizes at stake, what skills are needed to win the game (speed, strategy, knowledege, etc.), and other minor details (speed rounds, bouns rounds, etc.)
3. Show Flow- The overall execution and consistency of the show and whether or not the show exhibits a lot of mistakes and technical difficultes
4. Potential Viewer Ratings- Based of how many people will be able to watch the show, depending on which channel it is on, whether the show will be interesting enough to stick around, and how the show matches up against other shows on other networks during their time slot
5. Play-Along Factor- Based on whether the viewers at home can "play along" with the contestants on the show while watching it, such as solving a puzzle as on Wheel of Fortune or Classic Concentration or answering questions as on The Joker's Wild or Who Wants to be a Millionaire
6. Host- Based on how well the host does hosting the show, asking the questions, explaining the rules and entertaining the contestants, the television and studio audience

If you have any questions, comments, criticisms, or compliments, just either leave a comment at the end of an article/review or e-mail me at pyltigger@gmail.com.  Lastly, if you do have any comments, keep it clean.

And now, for the review.............

From Humble Beginnings………………

“[Insert Your Name Here], COME ON DOWN!!!!! You’re the next contestant to read “The Blog Is Right”!

Hello everyone! My name is Dexter Johnson and I would like to welcome you to “The Blog Is Right”. This is a brand new blog dedicated to game show reviews and other interesting articles about some of the past, present, and future game shows.

And now, a little bit about me………

I am a 20 year-old college student currently attending Hampton University majoring in Broadcast Journalism, with a minor in Economics. I have been watching game shows since I was about a year-old watching The Price is Right with the great grandmother. I have watched over six decades of game shows on GSN (when it was originally Game Show Network), YouTube and on other networks and websites. I have a collection of 1,500+ episodes of over 200 game shows on my external hard drive and in my VHS collection combined. I was also a game show contestant and  was in two episodes of Who Wants to be a Millionaire during the ninth season as a member of the studio audience (one episode was a Ghost Hunters Halloween special). I have seen the good, the bad, and the downright abysmal; so, when I write these reviews and articles, I know what I’m talking about.

I will try to post new articles on a weekly basis. So, if and when you get a chance to, swing by and check out some of my reviews and articles. Even if you’re not a “die-hard” game show fan like myself,  just take a look at some of the articles anyway. Who knows, you might like some of them!

So, go out today and tell your friends, your family, and even your enemies about the brand new blog that is "The Blog Is Right"
