The Scuttlebutt On GSN Part Deux: "The American Bible Challenge" & "Press Your Luck" Reruns Renewed

Well, it's official. As I have predicted in my review, The American Bible Challenge will be back as GSN has renewed the series for a second season. Nine episodes have been ordered for season two to air in 2013 and casting information to become contestants on the show is now available on GSNTV.com. Additionally, Press Your Luck will be returning to GSN starting next week.

The American Bible Challenge Renewed For Second Season
To some, the news concerning the renewal of the GSN original series is not a total shocker considering the series premiere on August 23 attracted a staggering 1.7 million viewers for the network, the highest number of viewers for any show on GSN. The record originally held by the Michael Larson documentary Big Bucks: The Press Your Luck Scandal in 2003. Since the premiere, over 12 million viewers have fallen in love with The American Bible Challenge and some have been faithfully following the tournament throughout the season thus far. For the six weeks the show has aired, The American Bible Challenge has topped GSN's ratings charts, overtaking one of many airings of Steve Harvey's Family Feud each week. The show has even gained immense success through digital and social platforms with the Facebook and numerous mobile versions of the game. Here are some stats to shed some more light on the popularity of the game: the game has been played over five million times by over 400,000 users; it's the number one Bible trivia game app, and it's among the top ten free trivia games on the iPhone. The first time I heard about The American Bible Challenge coming to GSN, I was very hesitant about its success on the network. GSN took a big risk with the production of this show and needless to say, it paid off. With a family-friendly premise, solid gameplay, good host, exciting, energetic, and charitable contestants, GSN made the right choice in green-lighting this series.

In other news, the cult classic, "big bucks", big risk game show Press Your Luck returns to GSN on Monday, October 15 at 9:30am EST after Card Sharks with Jim Perry. This time, GSN will start from the very first episode of the series in 1983. The network began airing reruns of PYL on September 1, 2001 when GSN was originally "Game Show Network" and pulled from the schedule on March 29, 2009. The air date of the first episode that ran on GSN was on February 21, 1984, while the show was still in its early stages, and concluded with an episode which aired on April 9, 1985. I am glad that GSN has decided to add Press Your Luck to their schedule once again and to start the show from its humble beginnings, albeit its placement in an early morning time slot. The question is will they show the later episodes from 1986 and perhaps the series finale? Only time will tell. In the mean time, stay tuned for the return of Press Your Luck on GSN on Monday morning. On a quick end note, it would be amazing if they would show the pilot as well.
