"News In A Flash!": Quick Game Show Updates (Part 19)

Happy weekend everyone! Today's article is dedicated to keeping you updated with the latest in game show news, ratings, and more, from a well-known game show host possibly returning to the show he began hosting to USA Network getting back into the game show business. Additionally, all ratings for syndicated game shows are from the week of December 30. Enjoy!


Upon hearing the news of Meredith Vieira leaving Millionaire, Regis Philbin is considering returning to the show he once hosted for the next season. 

USA Network is holding a casting call for families of four to compete in a new game show produced by Bright Road Productions for up to $10,000. Go to Craigslist.com for more information.

TBS has picked up ten episodes of Trust Me, I’m a Game Show Host, where contestants figure out which of the two hosts have the right answers to questions. The series will debut near the end of 2013.

TBS has also picked up a new hidden camera game show called Deal With It with Howie Mandel as host.


On Thursday, Channel 4 announced they have green lit the production of Five Minutes To a Fortune hosted by Davia MaCall. The show has teams of two competing for a £50,000 grand prize.

Family Feud’s Steve Harvey’s new talk show will be renewed for a second season. NBCUniversal will be extending the show’s contract through 2016.

Cory Anotado, Bob Hagh, and Chris Carrion will be hosting the Second Annual 24-Hour Game Show Marathon. The event will be featured on the radio and online for 24 hours on May 18.

Syfy will resume the second season of Total Blackout on January 15 at 10:30pm EST. 


Wheel of Fortune’s ratings dropped 8%, down to a 6.7, while its sister show, Jeopardy!, dropped 8% as well, down to a 5.9 rating.


Family Feud’s ratings took a small 2% dive down to a 4.6 and Millionaire’s ratings increased 9% from the previous week up to a 2.5, a season-high record for the show.


NBCUniversal’s Baggage, currently in its first year in syndication, remained frozen at a 1.1.
