News In A Flash!: Quick Game Show Updates #51

Happy Sunday! Today's article will be highlighting some of the latest game show news last week including some of the news headlines already featured on The Blog Is Right Facebook page in 200 characters or less from international production companies going on a game show shopping spree to new game shows premiere dates. All ratings for syndicated game shows are from the week ending March 30.

Banijay’s Air Productions has purchased the rights to develop Red Arrow’s The Lie.  Fanny Baudry, Banijay’s global acquisition manager is “thrilled to developed the French adaptation of The Lie”.

BOOM! BANDWAGON: Along with France and the U.S., Spain’s Atrestmedia have purchased broadcasting rights to develop a Spanish format for Boom!

Nordic World has acquired the international rights to the Israeli-based game show The Big Picture. A $1 million U.S. pilot has already been produced, even though no broadcasters are on board yet.

FremantleMedia has signed a two-year, co-development deal with Dick De Rijk, the original creator of Deal or No Deal, to develop reality and game show formats to distribute internationally.

Warwick Davis announced on Twitter that he will be the host of the reboot of Celebrity Squares. The new show is taking contestant applications until May 2 on the ITV website.

 “A fun new game show”, produced by Little Wooden Boat Productions, is looking for teams of two or four members who are outgoing and quick on their feet. Go to Reality Wanted for more information.

WE tv has ordered a pilot for Charlie Sheen’s Bad Influence, a relationship quiz show.  Hosted and exec produced by Sheen, the show will test couples to see how well they really know each other.

NEW SHOW ALERT: The series premiere of Bam’s Bad-Ass Game Show will debut tomorrow evening at 10:30pm ET on TBS.

Last Tuesday’s new episode of Minute To Win It took a ratings hit compared to the previous week. The 8pm airing only attracted 281,000 viewers. It didn’t even crack the top GSN 100 shows for the week.

GSN’s Mind of a Man double-header episodes averaged 266,000 total viewers last Wednesday evening. The 10pm show averaged 303,000 viewers and the 10:30pm show averaged 229,000 viewers.

In the world of syndication game shows, Wheel of Fortune improved 6% to a 7.4 (#2 overall; 11.73 million) and Jeopardy! increased 2% up to a 6.2 (#5 overall; 9.76 million).

Family Feud dropped 2% down to a 5.2 (#6 overall; 7.64 million) and Millionaire’s household ratings remained the same at a 2.2.
