Mark Labbett Joins “The Chase Australia” In 2016

Beginning next year, one of the most brilliant minds in Britain will take his quizzing talents down under to Australia’s version of The Chase. “The Beast”, who currently competes as a Chaser on the U.K. and U.S. version of The Chase, will join resident Chasers Brydon “The Shark” Coverdale, Anne “The Governess” Hegerty, Matt “Goliath” Parkinson” and Issa “The Supernerd” Schultz. Labbett was secretly flown to Melbourne to tape his series of episodes, which are scheduled to air around February.

So far in the show’s first season, The Chase Australia has proven itself to be a ratings success in its time slot upon replacing Million Dollar Minute a few months ago and has frequently beaten Millionaire Hot Seat, which airs during the back end of Nine Network’s crucial 5:00-6:00pm time slot. In fact, in Sydney last Tuesday, the Seven Network game show doubled the viewership of Hot Seat (182,000 to 95,000). With Labbett’s pending arrival, The Chase Australia should have no problems keeping its ratings steady in the upcoming year. Stay tuned for The Beast’s debut on The Chase Australia early 2016.
