Heading into its second season, the network’s horror-themed game show returns tonight at 9:00pm ET with slight changes made to the format. Every episode this season is centered around the “seven deadly sins” (pride, lust, anger, gluttony, envy, sloth, wrath) and a team of four contestants will be faced with the daunting task of traversing through three challenges for up to $10,000 and the Inferno end game for up to $40,000, all while The Twisted Twins do everything in their powers to stop them in their track. In the new Inferno round, the surviving contestants have seven minutes to search through up to seven rooms to find the key that unlocks the dungeon cell within the Inferno room that houses the captured teammates who failed to complete their respective Hellevator challenges. The only way the team can win any additional cash they accumulate during the Inferno round is if the survivors find the key to unlock the cell and rush back to the Hellevator before time expires.
Before you watch tonight's second season premiere, viewers will have the chance to engage in a live Q&A Facebook session at 8:00pm ET with the Soska Sisters. Head to Hellevator's Facebook page for more information. Once the live Q&A concludes, you can join the Soska Sisters live tweeting from the official Hellevator Twitter handle during the 9:00pm ET premiere.
Judging from the episode GSN released through its YouTube channel, this season of Hellevator is a definite improvement from what we have seen last year. The Inferno round adds a new exciting twist in the game, making the contestants even more terrified and panicked and even more difficult to win a massive amount of money. The updated end game makes the show seem more like a spooky, scary and sadistic version of Legends of The Hidden Temple.
Hellevator is part of GSN's new "Friday Night Fights" programming block, which also includes back-to-back reruns of the former SyFy/Chiller hidden camera comedy/horror series Scare Tactics starting at 10:00pm ET.
