Jeopardy! and Todd Newton won Daytime Emmy Awards earlier this evening during the 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. The awards program was broadcasted on HLN. This is Jeopardy's thirteenth Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Game/Audience Participation Show and Todd Newton's first Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Game Show Host.

It’s been long overdue but Todd Newton will finally join the ranks of Bob Barker, Alex Trebek, and Richard Dawson of being an Emmy Award-winning game show host. Newton received this coveted award for his outstanding job of hosting The Hub original game show series Family Game Night for the past two seasons. Newton is no stranger to hosting game shows as he is currently one of the many hosts of The Price Is Right LIVE! in Las Vegas, and was the former host of Hollywood Showdown in 2000, Powerball Instant Millionaire, and Whammy! The All New Press Your Luck, both in 2002. When he's not hosting game shows, Todd Newton also spends his time as a certified life coach, a keynote speaker, and even a hypnotherapist! I hope to see Family Game Night in next year's list of nominees for 'Best Game Show of 2013'. Congratulations to Todd Newton and his first Daytime Emmy Award win!

After tying with Wheel of Fortune last year and losing to Cash Cab three years in a row prior, Jeopardy! is once again the solo recipient of a Daytime Emmy . The long-running syndicated game show is the current front runner of winning the most Daytime Emmys, with 13, counting this year's victory. This season of Jeopardy! has been filled with special, memorable moments such as Chris Matthews' meltdown during Power Players Week in Washington D.C., a post-Final Jeopardy tiebreaker during the quarterfinal round of this year's Teen Tournament, and Roger Craig's "Double Daily Double" wager during the 2011 Tournament of Champions. Congratulations to Jeopardy's Daytime Emmy Award win this year for Best Game Show!
