"News In A Flash!": Quick Game Show Updates

In this week’s article, I am going to try something new: game show updates in 200 characters or less. Needless to say, I was inspired by Twitter to create this new feature article. There’s a good chance that “News In A Flash” will replace the “EXTRA! EXTRA! Read All About It” game show update articles, but we’ll see how this goes. Check it out!

OWN disowns new game show after three shows. Are You Normal America? has been pulled from the network’s schedule due to horrid ratings. The show finished dead last both weeks in the cable ratings.

On Friday, a federal judge ruled against CBS’s restraining order against Glass House that would have delayed the debut. CBS has sued ABC and the show’s producers for claims of copyright infringement.

Wipeout returns to ABC on June 28 at 8pm EST. In the season premiere, twelve beauties will compete against twelve geeks for $50,000 in this “battle of the sexes” rivalry.

CBS has purchased a pilot of a game show based on the mobile game “Draw Something”. The series will feature celebrity and civilian contestants, as we have seen on Win, Lose, or Draw and Pictionary.

Mike Richards, executive producer of The Price Is Right, has been named the host of GSN’s revival of The Pyramid. He will follow in the footsteps of Clark, Cullen, Davidson, and Osmond.

Dancing With The Stars will briefly return to GSN. GSN will air the fifth season of the ABC dancing competition from July 2 to July 4.

New game shows, Beat The Chefs and The American Bible Challenge, are set to premiere on GSN in August. No news concerning the specific debut dates for either show, but I will keep you updated.

MundoFOX picks up Minute To Win It. The show is currently seeking Spanish-speaking couples to play. Casting calls will take place in L.A. on June 16 and 22. Contestants could win up to $100,000.

Family Game Night returns for a third season to The Hub after initially being cancelled according to multiple sources. The show is currently casting in L.A. for families. Casting ends on August 13.

Paula Deen adds “game show host” to her résumé as she plans to meet with distributors to pitch a cooking game show called Food Chain. This show is based on the Italian series Cucochi e Flamme.

ITV’s Red or Black returns this fall. Producer Simon Cowell will be making several changes to the show, including the removal of “The Roulette Wheel”, live airings, and the grand prize (now £500,000).

If you were ever a contestant on The Price Is Right, you can share your TPIR experience on the show's website, whether it was an amazing win or a gut-wrenching loss.
