Before GSN took the initiative to fully produce the series, CBS ordered multiple pilot episodes of a million-dollar version of Pyramid in 2009 and 2010 to replace the long-running soap opera As The World Turns. CBS declined Pyramid in lieu of Let's Make A Deal. According to Hollywood Junket, GSN's The Pyramid is staying true to the original Clark/Davidson format. In the main game, each celebrity/civilian team will have 30 seconds to guess seven clues correctly in each round. The "Mystery 7" and "7-11" bonuses have been replaced with a $500 main game bonus and a $5,000 bonus added to their "Winner's Circle" bonus round jackpot every time a team swept a round with seven correct clues. The "Winner's Circle" is played the same as in the original version with the exception of the elevated consolation dollar values on the Pyramid ($100, $200, $300, $400, $500, $750). A contestant who successfully conquers the Winner's Circle Pyramid could win as little as $10,000, or as much as $25,000. Although I'm going to miss the "Mystery 7" and Super Six bonuses, I'm looking forward to the premiere of GSN's revival of Pyramid. I hope the network will continue the legacy of the fast-paced, Emmy-award winning game show through the premiere of The Pyramid.
