U.K. Olympic Legend Sir Steve Redgrave To Play on "Celebrity Millionaire" This Sunday

The Cube isn't the only game show inviting famed U.K. Olympic gold-medal athletes to compete for thousands of pounds in cash. ITV’s Who Wants To Be a Millionaire will be reigniting its primetime, celebrity special edition with five-time gold medalist Sir Steve Redgrave and his 14-year-old son Zak headlining Millionaire’s Celebrity “School’s Out” Special premiering Sunday, August 26th.

The Redgraves will be playing on behalf of Sparks, a charity which funds the life-saving research into conditions negatively affecting babies, children, and soon-to-be-mothers. “I am thrilled to be taking part in the show with my son Zak,” said the Olympic gold-medalist. Needless to say, Redgrave is looking forward to taking on the million-pound challenge for charity. Joining the Redgraves will be Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher with his 15-year-old brother, Braden, and TV host Dermot Murnagham with his 15-year-old daughter, Molly. The Flecthers will be raising money for The Cardiomyopathy Association, a charity which supports and provides information to families afflicted with the heart muscle disease and DEBRA, a charity dedicated to working on the behalf of people in the U.K. afflicted the skin disease Epidermolysis Bullosa. Meanwhile, the Murnaghans will be playing on behalf of Operation Florian, a charity devoted to working to increase the protection of the lives amongst the communities in need.

During last year’s “School Out Special”, the competing celebrity teams won a collective total of over £130,000 for their respective charities and £65,000 was given away to a lucky home viewer. As an added bonus, the three kids who were paired with their celebrity parent each took home a PS3 game package. How well will this year’s trio of teams fare on the second annual special? For U.K. viewers, watch the all the action unfold on the Who Wants To Be a Millionaire School’s Out special on Sunday, August 26 at 8:00pm on ITV. For everyone else, I’m sure that someone will upload the episode on YouTube for your viewing pleasure.
