This fall, Ryan Seacrest could be seen on three of the "Big Four" networks. Seacrest is close to sealing the deal as the host of NBC's upcoming reality quiz show The Million Second Quiz. The primetime quizzer will be broadcasted live in the heart of Manhattan and will see its contestants compete in a game of knowledge and endurance for 12 days, or over one million seconds, straight. The contestants will be essentially living in an hourglass-shaped structure for the entire competition and the top winner could win as much as $10 million. The television host's only issue with accepting the deal is if it will interfere with his other jobs, as he is also the host of his show Clear Channel radio show and could be traveling for the American Idol auditions in the fall.
As I have stated in the beginning of this article, should he make the deal to host the new NBC show, he will become the star of three major shows on three major networks (New Year's Rockin' Eve, ABC; American Idol, FOX; The Million Second Quiz, NBC). The last time viewers have seen a show put $10 million at stake was in 2009 with CBS's Power Of 10 and in 2004 with ABC's Super Millionaire. It has also been a while since Ryan Seacrest has hosted a quiz show, but I have no doubt that he will do an excellent job hosting the show. After all, he has had more than a decade's practice at hosting live shows. Meanwhile, check out an episode of the syndicated late 90's game show that launched Seacrest's television career, Click. Don't forget to mark your calendars for the series premiere of The Million Second Quiz September 9 on NBC!
