"Celebrity Name Game" Renewed For Second Season

This update shouldn't come as much of a shocker for game show fans after hearing news of the show's forecasted renewal last month. FremantleMedia announced today that Celebrity Name Game will be returning for another season thanks to pickups by Tribune Broadcasting, Sinclair Broadcast Group, Cox Broadcasting and many others. Hosted by Craig Ferguson and executive produced by Courteney Cox and David Arquette, the show is currently in its first season with new episodes to come January 12. Thom Beers, CEO of FremantleMedia North America and one of the show's executive producers commented, "Celebrity Name Game came out of the gate with an impressive start, building its audience each week, and showing itself to be a strong contender in syndication." Celebrity Name Game is holding its own by ranking second among new daily syndicated shows in the all-important key daytime demo of women 25-54. For most of the season thus far, the show has averaged a commendable 1.2 rating.

Celebrity Name Game is part of the first-year syndicated show renewal surge that gave The Meredith Vieira Show, Hot Bench and The Real a second year on television as well. With the first season nearly under its belt, I am very curious to see if there are any special theme episodes in the works for the upcoming season. (I highly doubt it, but you never know.) At any rate, stay tuned for Celebrity Name Game in your area and you can keep yourself updated on all the show's happenings and funny moments on social media by following them on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

  1. I am happy that the program has been renewed for a second season. However, I have one small question. I know that they filmed the bulk of the episodes for the first season in late summer, but didn't expect them to run twice daily in the fall. I also saw that, unlike other celebrity-based game shows, the episodes are just scheduled randomly, with different guests each day.

As of this week they have most likely broadcast almost all the episodes filmed with only about two or three celebrities left to debut. (Seth Gabel, Rachael Harris, Lamorne Morris) Having never seen the similarly scheduled game show Pyramid with Donny Osmond, I was just curious if, now that Ferguson has finished taping his chat show, they will record more episodes to finish off Season 1 or are they absolutely finished taping for the current season and only start again for Season 2 in late summer?

    1. It appears the show has finished filming its first season. They should be sending out the casting call and studio audience ticket availability notices within a few months, if not sooner. As of now, I'm not exactly sure when CNG will start filming shows for the second season.
