Looking to replace Deal Or No Deal and Million Dollar Minute, Seven Network is set to premiere its own weekday version of The Chase Monday, September 14 at 5:00pm AEST. Australian viewers will now have a chance to see a team of four contestants compete against one of the show's four formidable Chasers. Hosted by Andrew O'Keefe, the contestants' ultimate goal is to escape the mental clutches of the Chaser and win thousands of dollars in the process. The roster of Chasers lined up to face their foes in this edition of the popular game show are "The Governess" Anne Hegerty (current U.K. Chaser, former Mastermind, Fifteen To One contestant), "The Shark" Brydon Coverdale ($307,000 champion on Million Dollar Minute), Matt "Goliath" Parkinson (Sale Of The Century champion) and "The Supernerd" Issa Schultz (three-time Australian Quizzing Championship Individual winner).
The gameplay pretty much stays true to the original U.K. format with the exception of the questions in the Cashbuilder round being worth $2,000 each. Australian viewers will be in for a treat next week and the network will hope The Chase Australia will be an improvement ratings-wise compared to the struggling Million Dollar Minute. Check out the latest promo to The Chase Australia and stay tuned for the show's premiere next Monday.
Change the host. He is annoying and has no charisma with the Chaser and audience. He was annoying during Deal or No Deal and you can see he is struggling with The Chase. He sighs and totally do not connect with the contestants nor the Chaser.
ReplyDeleteAoK is so annoying and irritating to watch it's not funny. He seems to think that he is the star of the show instead of the Chasers and the contestants, pokes fun at the Chasers with his us against them attitude that you dont get in the UK version and downright rude (referred to Anne as 'her' on several occasions in today's show and his facial expressions are over-the-top. Inappropriately named to host this internationally renown show,. He just does not have the class for it and his monkeying around is more suited to Deal or No Deal. It's just embarrassing to watch because of the host.
Delete...they must be paying anne an awful lot of money to be involved in this fiasco !!!!!!....
DeleteI was so excited to hear that we would be getting the Australian version of the show, as I love the UK original. However, I will not watch it as the host Andrew O'Keefe is beyond belief as a host. I think he is on some drug or another, nobody can be that hyperactive naturally. So until a new host if found I will stay with the UK version and turn over to channel 9 for Hot seat. (bloody shame)
ReplyDeleteThe host is shocking...he makes it look like utter crap...can't stand watching it because of him....love the UK one....
ReplyDeleteAgree with comments re. A.OK as host - what a disaster he is - needs lessons from Bradley Walsh to see how it should be done. I'll keep watching U.K. version only!
ReplyDeletePlease...PLEASE....have Andrew O'Keefe watch Bradley Walsh on the English version to see how it's done without the over the top gesturing etc. It was bad enough when the show first aired and now he makes it unwatchable.
