News In A Flash!: Quick Game Show Updates #89

This week's quick update article will take a look at the some of the latest game show news from the past week in 200 characters or less. This week's news highlights include an NPR interview featuring Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek, a "groovy" new episode of Idiotest, BuzzFeed checking out the set of the upgraded temple in Legends of The Hidden Temple and an international network adapting its own version of the Who's Still Standing? game show format.

On Weekend Edition Sunday, NPR’s Rachel Martin interviewed Alex Trebek to discuss his 50-year career hosting game shows and how Jeopardy! has been able to withstand the test of time.

Celebrity Name Game will begin airing new episodes starting Monday, April 18. Special guest stars to appear this week include Yvette Nicole Brown, Scott Adsit, Megyn Price and Erin Foster. 

Idiotest’s Ben Gleib will guest star alongside Flula Borg and Anna Akana on Tuesday night’s episode of Comedy Central’s @midnight. 

Idiotest flashes back to the 1970s on one of this week's new episodes. Stay tuned for the special 70's show this Tuesday at 10:00pm on GSN.

On Tuesday’s new episode of CNBC’s Billion Dollar Buyer, Tilman Fertitta goes to California and meets with two small, handmade design businesses, Rossmore and Galanter & Jones.

This week on Separation Anxiety, married couple Britt and Jenson Bush of Northridge, CA will be putting their intuition, trust and general knowledge to the test for a chance to win up to $250,000.

This Wednesday on GSN, stay tuned for the third season premiere of Skin Wars at 10:00pm and the debut of the half-hour, special spinoff event Political Idiotest at 11:00pm.

Let’s Make A Deal will be airing an Earth Day Special on Friday’s show. Contestants will be given a chance to win eco-friendly prizes including a trip to Chile and a new hybrid car.

The Price Is Right Live will be coming to Salina Bicentennial Center in Salina, KS November 1 at 7:30pm. Tickets go on sale April 29 at 10:00pm and cost $31, $41 and $51. 

Nickelodeon is holding a casting call searching for kids aged between 11-14 to compete on the second season of Paradise Run. Applicants have until the end of April to apply.

The Nigerian version of Millionaire is giving viewers a chance to win cash and/or win their way onto the show by playing the mobile game and ranking among the top players on the monthly leaderboard.

The BBC admitted John Humphrys misread a question in the Mastermind Grand Final. The network spoke with runner-up Jim Maginnis and he stated the correction wouldn’t have changed his answer.

Azteca America is expanding its programming to become a stronger competitor to Univision and Telemundo. New 2016-17 shows include game show Ahora Caigo, which seems similar to Who’s Still Standing?.

On April 13, GSN Games announced Arun Dutta is the new Country Manager of GSN Games India. The studio is currently creating and developing new social casino games and continuing to manage Bingo Bash.

BuzzFeed founder and CEO Jonah Peretti announced the company is working on a game show concept for Facebook Live at Facebook’s f8 developer conference in San Francisco, CA on Tuesday.

BuzzFeed filmed an exclusive sneak peek of the set of the upcoming Nickelodeon movie Legends of The Hidden Temple. The game show-inspired TV movie premieres this fall. 

Last Monday’s 10:00pm doubleheader debut of Logo’s Gay For Play Game Show averaged 183,000 and 137,000 total viewers and a 0.08 and 0.07 rating among Adults 18-49, respectively.

The third season of Idiotest debut last Tuesday with 397,000 viewers watching the 10:00pm show and 358,000 viewers watching the 10:30pm show. Both episodes averaged a 0.09 A18-49 rating.

BUZZR is now available over-the-air in Buffalo, NY on WBXZ channel 56.7.

Card Sharks Week will be airing on BUZZR starting April 25 featuring episodes of Card Sharks with Bob Eubanks. Eubanks will also be hosting a Twitter Q&A on April 25.
