"News In A Flash!": Quick Game Show Updates (Part 25)


Today's article is dedicated to keeping you updated with the latest in game show news in 200 characters or less, from The Disney Channel getting back into the game show arena to NBC's newest game show-reality show hybrid series. Additionally, all ratings for syndicated game shows are from the week of April 23. Here we go!


NBC is in the works of producing The Million Second Quiz. The show will engage contestants in a quiz that lasts for 12 straight days for up to $10 million. The show is expected to air this fall.

D.L. Hughley and Michael Ian Black will be hosting the new TBS game show, Trust Me, I’m a Game Show Host. The game is simple: one host is lying and the other is telling the truth

Mark Burnett’s One Three Media has sold the game show format Spin Off to Canadian broadcaster CHCH. The half-hour show gives contestants a chance to win cash in this game of luck and knowledge.

ABC’s Wipeout will return on May 9 with Jill Wagner returning as the show’s sideline reporter.

Deadliest Catch stars Sig Hansen and Keith Colbum will play Millionaire for their charity, Seattle’s Children’s Hospital, on tomorrow’s show. Check your local listings.

SyFy’s Total Blackout will return for a third season on June 4 at 9:00pm EST and the network’s newest show Exit will also premiere on June 4 at 10:00pm after Total Blackout

E! Network is planning to develop a new game show series called Secrets & Lies. The show is based on the classic parlor game Three Truths and A Lie and will test the contestants’ celebrity knowledge.

Disney Channel will be reviving the classic 1980s game show Win, Lose or Draw with host Justin Willman. This will be the first time Disney Channel has aired an original game show since 1998.

Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy continue to struggle in ratings for the third week in a row, as both shows slipped 1% and 3% down to 6.8 and 6.0, respectively. 

Family Feud, Millionaire, and NBCU's Baggage also fell ratings wise as each show dropped 6%, 4%, and 9%, down to a 4.5, 2.4, and 1.0 rating, respectively.
