As we are quickly approaching to the 12th season premiere of the syndicated version of Who
Wants To Be A Millionaire, we will soon discover how comedian Cedric Kyles will fare on the show. The show, which will return Monday, September 2, has
already released teaser promos for the upcoming season and I’m looking forward
to Cedric’s tenure as host. The announcement was made in March about four
months after Meredith Vieira taped her final show. Soon, Cedric will join the
ranks of past Millionaire hosts, both
permanent and temporary, including Regis Philbin, Hollywood Squares’ Tom Bergeron, Wipeout’s John Henson and Family
Feud’s Steve Harvey.
As I have previously stated in past articles, I believe that
Cedric will do just fine hosting Millionaire. As with Harvey with the Feud, Cedric taking over as host should bring in more demographics and a wider audience for the series. He has proven that he is solid as a game show host through his experience
with emceeing NBC’s It’s Worth What. He places
more emphasis on the contestants’ performance in the game rather than trying to
make a joke at every turn and putting the spotlight on him.
If you want to see a live taping of Millionaire, as well as audition to be on the show, you can sign up on the show's website. Judging from the taping I attended two seasons ago, you will have a chance to see two shows. It's a lot of fun to watch, especially in person, and the tickets are free. You can check out a full episode of It’s Worth What to check Cedric out in action and a short preview of next week's episode of Millionaire below. Check your local listings and stay tuned.
