Trading Places: Drew Carey and Craig Ferguson To Swap Shows on April Fools' Day

Frequently on April Fools' Day, The Price Is Right has observed the holiday by pulling unusual, crazy pranks and stunts on the show to “trick” the home viewers and studio audience. Past stunts include Carey’s fictional nemesis, Mimi Bobeck, taking over the show, the “10,000th” special and last year’s “Models Rule!” episode. This year, late night host and comedian Craig Ferguson will be joining in on the fun. On Monday’s episode of The Late Late Show, Drew Carey and Craig Ferguson announced the two hosts will be “switching jobs” for April Fools’. Carey will be hosting The Late Late Show on Tuesday, April 1 at 12:37 AM ET/PT and Ferguson will in turn be hosting The Price Is Right in the daytime at 11:00 AM ET/10:00 AM PT.

On Carey’s episode of The Late Late Show, Carey will interview legendary comedian Carl Reiner, Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Connie Schultz and musical guest and rocker Joan Jett. Carey will also be accompanied by announcer George Gray and TPIR models Rachel Reynolds, Amber Lancaster and Manuela Arbeláez. On the flip side, Ferguson will join the scarce category of emcees who have hosted the CBS daytime version of The Price Is Right, which include Bob Barker, Dennis James and, currently, Drew Carey. Ferguson will be joined by his robot skeleton sidekick, Geoff Peterson, and pantomime horse, Secretariat and will act as the models (or "Ferguson’s Beauties”, if you will) for the show.

Considering how hilarious Craig Ferguson is as a host and as a comedian, this episode will be one for the Price Is Right history books as perhaps one of the more funnier episodes in the history of the show. I, personally, have been a fan of Ferguson and his late-show antics for over seven years now. There is no doubt in my mind that he will do a fantastic job of temporarily taking the helm for the April Fools’ show. I’d suggest you set your DVRs for these two shows on April 1. In the meantime, check out Craig Ferguson’s very first guest appearance on The Price Is Right in 2012 in the clip below.
