The Price Is Right’s Third Celebrity Week Begins Monday, February 20

After placing the star-studded special event on a four-year hiatus, Celebrity Charity Week returns to The Price Is Right starting on President’s Day tomorrow morning during CBS Daytime. Stars Jack Black, Wilmer Valderrama, Jane Lynch, Julie Bowen and Chris O’Donnell will help present Showcases and contestants win prizes by playing various pricing games throughout the week. Whatever prizes the contestants win, the stars receive the value of the prizes in cash for their selected charities. In the second Showcase Showdown, the star spins the Big Wheel and the amount they land on is multiplied times $100, meaning they could add between $500-$10,000 to their charity bank. 

December 2016 Game Show Highlights

Rather than attempting to cram all of the late-arriving December moments into my annual quasi-reader-selected top 10 countdown list, today’s article is dedicated to listing the top December highlights (as well as some honorable mentions) that will not be featured in the aforementioned end-of-the-year list. Some of the top December moments include yesterday’s incredibly quick $100,000 win on The Price Is Right, Channel 4’s Deal or No Deal crowning its ninth £250,000 winner, Timothy Howe winning the first (and more than likely last) season of GSN’s Window Warriors and the latest Countdown champion.

Game Show 2016 Holiday Watch List

Happy holidays, game show fans! This week will be another busy one in the wide world of game shows, especially with all of the Christmas specials coming down the pike. US viewers should stay tuned for GSN’s Window Warriors first season finale, the sneak preview episode of NBC’s The Wall, Let’s Make A Deal and The Price Is Right’s Christmas specials and BUZZR’s special slate of shows to air during the network’s A Betty White Christmas promotional marathon. In the UK, make sure to stay tuned for ITV’s Blankety Blank Christmas special and Channel 4’s Deal or No Deal wrapping up this month.

VIDEO REPLAY: Christen Freeman Sets New TPIR Daytime Records With $210,000 “Cliff Hangers” Win

All this week, The Price Is Right has given contestants a chance to win massive cash prizes throughout each episode. This year’s "Big Money" games were “Hot Seat” for $100,000; “Hole In One” for $100,000; “Plinko” for $1 million and “1/2 Off” for $100,000. Some of the other temporary Big Money Week changes included a perfect bid worth $5,000 (normally $500), winning $45,000 for landing on 45¢ in a bonus spin during the Showcase Showdown and earning a $10,000 bonus if “Race Game” was won in 30 seconds or less. After it seemed like the lone highlight of the week was Raymond Keefe’s $101,000 win in “1/2 Off” on Monday’s show, Christen Freeman rose to the occasion and capped off the special week by winning an impressively staggering $210,000 playing “Cliff Hangers” – the final pricing game of the day whose top prize was worth $250,000. After waiting all show to win her way on stage, Freeman soon became The Price Is Right's biggest pricing game and overall winner in the history of the CBS daytime version. Freeman won a grand total of $213,876, including a $1,000 bonus from the second Showcase Showdown.

This Thursday at 7:00pm PT, The Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, CA begins hosting a series of panel events featuring the stars of prominent CBS Daytime shows including Let's Make A Deal, The Price Is Right, The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful and The Talk. The four-week series starts with the “CBS Daytime Presents: The Game Shows Panel” event featuring Let’s Make A Deal host Wayne Brady, The Price Is Right host Drew Carey, LMAD and TPIR executive producer Mike Richards and LMAD executive producer Dan Funk. Summer 2016 Game Show Tracker

Game show fans will be in for treat this summer with the influx of revivals, renewals, specials and new series flooding the primetime network television airwaves beginning in a couple of weeks. With BuzzerBlog’s announcement of a potential Password revival on ABC, I think this would be a great time to review the game shows as well as some of the new competitive series to look forward to this summer. Much like NBC during the mid- and late-2000s, ABC will be leading the game show herd along with CBS and GSN debuting new shows and specials of their own. “The Price Is Right” & “Let’s Make A Deal” Unite For Mash-Up Week

Beginning Monday, April 9, CBS’ two hit daytime game shows will be trading places for the entire week as Let’s Make A Deal and The Price Is Right kicks off its first-ever “Mash Up Week”. All next week, the stars of both series will make guest appearances on the opposite show and contestants will also have the rare opportunity to play Deal games on Price, and vice versa.

“The Price Is Right” Celebrates April Fools’ Day With Spot-The-Mistake Contest

On Friday, April 1 on CBS Daytime, Let’s Make A Deal and The Price Is Right are celebrating April Fools’ Day by airing special episodes in honor of the prank-filled holiday. This year, The Price Is Right’s producers have intentionally inserted a myriad of mistakes and mishaps on tomorrow’s show that only the most observant TPIR fans would be able to catch. Similar to what Wheel of Fortune did in 2010, viewers will be able to write down and submit the list of mistakes they have seen on Friday’s show with the winner, who spotted the most mistakes and goofs, winning a nine-day trip for two to Costa Rica.
