CBS Orders Game Show Based On “Candy Crush Saga” Mobile Game

Earlier today, CBS announced giving a full series order to Lionsgate’s television adaptation of the wildly popular and addictive Candy Crush Saga mobile app. Matt Kunitz, former producer of Wipeout and Fear Factor, created the format and will executive produce the series with Peter Levin of Lionsgate, Russell Binder of Striker Entertainment, Nicki Sheard of King and the mobile app’s creator Sebastian Knutsson. The hourlong game show will have pairs of teams face giant interactive game boards to overcome levels, puzzles and obstacles for a chance to become Candy Crush champion. The series is also offering a play-along option for home viewers. According to CBS, the Candy Crush Saga and Candy Crush Soda Saga apps have generated over 18 billion game rounds last month. No word yet on who will be hosting the series or when the show will premiere.

Game Shows To Watch For The Next Three Nights

This week is a pretty busy week for network game shows with Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? and Bullseye coming to FOX, The Briefcase making its debut on CBS and 500 Questions closing out its first season Thursday evening with a two-hour finale. First, tonight on FOX, 5th Grader returns with host Jeff Foxworthy, a new set and a new cast of classmates to help the contestants make the grade and win the $1 million top prize at 8:00pm. Thanksgiving Holiday Watch List (Nov. 26-28): "The Price Is Right", "Let’s Make A Deal", "Millionaire" and GSN Marathons

On Thanksgiving Eve (Wednesday, November 26) during CBS daytime, The Price Is Right and Let’s Make A Deal will be celebrating the holiday with special Thanksgiving-themed episodes. On Let’s Make A Deal, contestants will be dressed as turkeys, pilgrims and pumpkins and will play themed games including a 3-Turkey Deal for big bucks and games involving a Turkey hotline and a giant pumpkin that has apparently caught the eye of the "hungry" cast. As a special bonus, the studio audience will receive a family heirloom cookbook project featuring tools and directions on how to create your own cookbook filled with family recipes. First Webisode of The Price Is Right's Nationwide Male Model Search Debuts Monday, October 27th

The Price Is Right’s first nationwide male model search is at the halfway mark as the remaining contenders continue their journey in the semifinal round. Beginning on Monday at 3pm EDT (12pm PDT), home viewers will have the chance to see how the remaining competitors will fare in the next stage by watching the first episode of the contest's six-webisode miniseries on PriceIsRight.com. Viewers can also participate in the "Twitter party" conversion at that time by using the official #NextPriceModel hashtag to chat with other followers, judges and finalists. "Let’s Make A Deal" To Air Musical-Themed Special November 13 + Something Interesting

After “30,000 Reasons To Love Me” won the show’s first-ever Emmy Award earlier this year, thanks to the musical stylings of Wayne Brady and Cat Grey, this news is not surprising in the least. In perhaps an attempt to capitalize on the success of the award-winning song, each deal within the special episode will feature Brady and announcer Jonathan Mangum serenade contestants with a series of comical songs to help them win prizes and avoid any and all Zonks. The duo have incorporated various improv songs in deals on previous episodes including "The Foot Massage Song", "The Chocolate Song" and a freestyle rap about a prize behind a curtain.

VIDEO REPLAY: Tesla Model S Won Playing "One Away" on "The Price Is Right"

It looks like lightning struck twice for The Price Is Right's second installment of "Dream Car Week". Throughout the week, the CBS daytime show has offered contestants a chance to play pricing games with luxury automobiles at stake including a Maserati, a Range Rover and a Porsche. Today's featured car was a Tesla Model S. After winning the day's first item up for bid in contestant's row, Vanessa Ansoorian made her way onto the stage to play "One Away", the first game of the day and one of the more tougher car pricing games, for the Tesla. This was, to say the least, a very surprising, jaw-dropping win. Check out Vanessa's $79,000+ win in the clip below. On a quick end note, although she won her pricing game, Vanessa fell short in the Showcase Showdown and walked away with only (to use the term loosely) $81,212 in prizes.

"Let's Make A Deal" Debuts New Game, "Accelerator", Monday, October 6th

A couple of weeks ago, The Price Is Right debuted a new game (albeit a revival) to their stage. On Monday, October 6, Let's Make A Deal will follow suit by premiering a new high stakes game of their own called "Accelerator". The Roulette-styled game will give a lucky trader a chance to spin the large Accelerator wheel for a chance to win a brand new car. To win the car, the contestant must spin three times successfully and spell out the word "CAR" by landing on one of the letters in each spin. The catch is every time the contestant lands on a letter, the letter is replaced with a Zonk space and the game automatically ends if the ball lands on a Zonk. After each turn, the contestant will be given a chance to take a cash offer in lieu of potentially leaving with the game with nothing.

In about a week and a half from today, The Price Is Right and Let's Make A Deal kicks off their respective 43rd and sixth and seasons on CBS daytime. This season of The Price Is Right debuts a revamped version of a retired pricing game and Let's Make A Deal continues to roll out more theme shows including an "unpredictable" April Fool's show.

"The Price Is Right" Announces First Nationwide Male Model Search

After holding its first male model search two years ago, The Price Is Right will be broadening its search across the U.S. as the show's first-ever nationwide male model search continues Saturday, September 6. The search officially began in Spartanburg, SC on August 16. The other open casting calls will be held in Boston, MA on September 6; Dallas, TX on Sunday, September 7; Philadelphia, PA on Monday, September 8 and Los Angeles, CA on Tuesday, September 30. Trading Places: Drew Carey and Craig Ferguson To Swap Shows on April Fools' Day

Happy New Year’s Eve! This year was another incredible year for game shows with all-time records being broken left and right, numerous contestants became overnight millionaires and hundreds of thousands of dollars richer within minutes and classic favorites returned to television. With thanks to everyone who voted for their favorite game show moments to be placed in the #10 and #9 rankings, I have once again complied a list of the ten most memorable and unforgettable game show moments that happened in 2013. Considering all that happened this year, It was tough putting the list together (especially with yesterday’s historic moment on a certain Daytime show that made its way onto the list at the last minute).
