Once again, today's article will cover many of game show news headlines and updates from the past week in 200 characters or less along with some that may have been already covered on The Blog Is Right Facebook page from a contestant admitting to committing a crime on television to the latest cable and network game show ratings. All ratings for syndicated game shows are from the week ending April 27.
BREAKING MY OWN RULES: Sefer Calinak, a contestant on the Turkish dating show Luck of The Draw, admitted on the air last week that he had murdered his first wife and a lover with an axe. The host asked him to leave upon confessing to the second murder.
The semifinal and final rounds of the Jeopardy! Battle of The Decades tournament will begin on May 12. Check your local listings to find out who will win the $1 million prize by the end of the week.
The Price Is Right will be airing a special Salute To Firefighters episode this Friday, May 16 on CBS.
Family Game Night host/Daytime Emmy Award-winner Todd Newton will be hosting the 38th Annual Mid-America Emmy Award to be held in the Grand Hall of the Kansas City Convention Center on September 27.
Sundance TV will be airing a new game show in July called The Approval Matrix. It’s based on New York Magazine’s “Approval Matrix” and will be hosted by Neal Brennan. Six episodes have been ordered.
The upcoming 25th season of ABC’s America’s Funniest Home Videos will be Tom Bergeron’s last.
Bam’s Bad Ass Game Show suffered another hit in its ratings this week. The show only pulled 799,000 total viewers and ranked 91st among the top 100 rated shows among Adults 18-49.
Thursday’s new episode of Hollywood Game Night attracted 3.18 million viewers overall (0.9 Adults 18-49 rating) and ranked 12th for the night among 15 primetime shows.
Friday’s new Whose Line? averaged 1.36 million viewers, along with a 0.3 rating in the key demo. The only shows it beat were Hart of Dixie and reruns of 24: Live Another Day and another Whose Line?.
The perhaps first season finale of GSN’s Minute To Win It averaged 371,000 total viewers on Tuesday night and ranked 43rd overall for the week. Not a bad way to close out the season.
Last week’s new doubleheader episodes of Mind of A Man averaged a combined total of 223,000 viewers — 187,000 at 10:00pm (163rd weekly overall) and 259,000 at 10:30pm (94th weekly overall).
Here are the ratings from last week's 5:00pm airings of Win, Lose or Draw: Mon.: 963K (214th), Tues.: 1.15M (136th), Wed.: 798K (258th), Thurs.: 927K (223rd), Fri.: 818K (252nd).
Syndicated game shows for the week of April 27 were stagnant at the most. Wheel, Jeopardy and Millionaire all remained frozen at 6.6, 6.4 and 2.1 respectively.
The only loser during the week among game shows were Debmar-Mercury’s Family Feud, dropping 2% to a 4.9, even though the show maintained its #6 overall position among all syndicated shows.
