STAY TUNED: “I Survived A Zombie Apocalypse” Premieres Tonight on BBC Three

Already labeled as “television’s most terrifying reality show” before the premiere episode has aired, the new BBC Three reality show makes its series debut in the U.K. tonight at 10:00pm GMT. Hosted by Radio 1 DJ Greg James, the show takes place six months after the apocalypse and new 5G smartphones are causing a DNA mutation that turns people into zombies. A teams of ten individuals must survive for a week inside Monroe Shopping Village in Scotland before being rescued by an army helicopter. They will have to work together to protect their essential supplies and secure the perimeter from the zombies trying breaking in from the outside. If any of the contenders are touched by one of the zombies, they will be instantly eliminated from the game.

Contestants include Jackie McKenzie, the oldest contestant (56) who has survived rafting the Grand Canyon; Megan Oxtoby, a 20-year-old from Malvern who “want[s] to show everyone [she’s] a very tough cookie really” and Leah Guttridge, a 24-year-old from Albrighton who was born a boy and has 35 tattoos covering her body.

I Survived A Zombie Apocalypse definitely has its work cut out for them upon billing itself as “television’s most terrifying reality show” with ITV2’s Release The Hounds seemingly occupying the top spot. On a quick end note, I am very surprised the U.S. didn’t execute this idea first, considering our current fascination with The Walking Dead. At any rate, stay tuned for the series premiere of I Survived A Zombie Apocalypse at 10:00pm GMT (5:00pm EST) on BBC Three.
