Based on the popular game often played on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Heads Up! has been picked up by HLN for 65-episode first season run from Telepictures. Heads Up!, hosted by comedienne Loni Love, will be airing early 2016 on a daily weekday basis. Like Keywords, Heads Up! is also based on the popular mobile app of the same name, which has been down more than 16 million times on iOS and Android devices, played more than a half billion times and was Apple's top paid app of 2014. The series has contestants team up with celebrity partners and try to guess as many subjects based on their teammate's clues in a wide variety of categories. “I’m so excited that Heads Up! is going to be a game show. It’s so fun and addictive. I play it on my show all the time. I play it at home. I played it last night at Jennifer Aniston’s house. She wasn’t home, so please don’t print that part”, said DeGeneres. Heads Up! will be produced by DeGeneres' production company, A Very Good Production, in association with Telepictures and executive produced by DeGeneres, Ed Glavin, Mary Connelly, Andy Lassner and Jeff Kleeman.
As the second game show to be introduced to the revamped social media-friendly cable news channel, I am more excited for the premiere of this show than I was for Keywords. Although Heads Up! seems like just another Pyramid copycat, it's a lot of fun to play because it's not just a word association game; it's a game of charades as well depending on which category you choose, giving you the best of both classic games. I hope Heads Up! will post better figures than Keywords, who has yet to reach the 100,000 mark in total viewership in four episodes thus far.
