News In A Flash!: Quick Game Show Updates #72

Today's update will review some of the latest game show news headlines from the past week in 200 characters or less including updates featured on the TBIR Facebook page. Quick updates include the second season premiere of Sports Jeopardy! under a revised format, big winners on The Chase, The Chase Australia, another quarter-million dollar winner on Millionaire and some of the latest ratings updates. 

The second season of Sports Jeopardy! premiered yesterday on Crackle. Unlike the tournament format in the first season, the season will feature returning champions winning $5,000 for each game won.

Today's team of Sue, Mike, Fi and Steve won a massive £56,000 jackpot on today's episode of The Chase on ITV. The team defeated Mark Labbett, who was six steps away from the 23-step target.

Yesterday, Joe MacLeod, a newspaper columnist from Baltimore, MD, became the most recent contestant to win $250,000 on Millionaire

On Tuesday's "80s" episode of The Price Is Right, Lauren Lumpkin became the first Double Showcase winner of the 44th season, racking up more than $70,000 in prizes.

This week, The Price Is Right is giving viewers a chance to take out behind-the-scenes looks at the history of some of the games and set pieces that have been used on the show throughout the years.

People has obtained a "sneak peek" photo of The Price Is Right's newest pricing game, "Vend-O-Price". The new game debuts on Friday's show, closing out Decades Week on The Price Is Right.

Let’s Make A Deal is giving contestants a chance to play the new "Mega Deal” end game for a chance to win every prize on the show, risk free, should they win the "Big Deal of the Day".

NBC’s Best Time Ever averaged 6.16M total viewers (7th/12; -6.5%) and a 2.2 rating (4th/12; +20%) among A18-49. With the Fall shows starting their new seasons, the series showed signs of struggle.

Next week’s Celebrity Name Game guest stars include Candace Cameron Bure, Rick Fox, Vivica A. Fox, Kate Flannery and Ross Matthews.

After seven shows, The Chase Australia finally found its first winners – Philomena (Phil) Trevor-Hunt, Jared Kitney, and Steve Wall splitting $28,000. The trio defeated Anne “The Governess” Hegerty. 

The Times Of India has recently published an article highlighting some of "Indian TV game shows we miss watching” including an Indian version of The Moment of Truth (Sach Ka Saamna).

A BIT OF OLD NEWS: Seven Network’s Million Dollar Minute ended Friday, September 12 with Michael Nunan as the show’s final champion winning $200,000.
