News In A Flash!: Quick Game Show Updates #82

This week's quick update article will cover some of the latest game show news headlines from the past few days in 200 characters or less including a few updates featured on the TBIR Facebook page. News updates include The Price Is Right bringing back its annual Socially Awesome Week, a local Philadelphia affiliate news station holding a contest with the winners receiving tickets to attend a taping of Wheel of Fortune, Logo greenlighting a new game show starring Skin Wars judge RuPaul and Jeopardy's upcoming adult online audition test dates.

The Price Is Right’s Socially Awesome Week returns all this week on CBS Daytime. The special week will feature live tweeting, behind-the-scenes videos and the results of #UDecide Twitter votes.

Jeopardy! will be holding its 2016 Adult Online Test this week on January 26 at 8:00pm EST, January 27 at 9:00pm EST and January 28 at 11:00pm EST. Go to jeopardy.com to register for the audition test.

Philadelphia's 6abc is holding a contest where 25 winners will attend a taping during Wheel's Philadelphia Week along with $1,000. Tune in to Wheel all next week and watch for the Bonus Round puzzles.

Logo has greenlit a new game show called Gay For Play Game Show Starring RuPaul. The series, scheduled to debut in the spring, has a panel of six stars helping two players answer questions.

BBC Worldwide has licensed You’re Back In The Room to be produced in Latin America. According to the BBC subsidiary, Colombia’s RCN is set to air Hipnosis: Un Juego de la Mente on Sunday, February 14.

GSN’s newest game show, Winsanity, is looking for participants to join the studio audience for upcoming tapings beginning February 6 at Red Studios in Los Angeles, CA.

Millionaire will be airing special theme weeks all February including Bachelor Fan Favorites Week (1-5), Whiz Kids (8-12), Shriners Hospitals for Children Week (15-19) and Movie Week (22-26).

Last week on The Chase, Hannah Mastrangelo was deemed “the worst contestant ever” after scoring £0 in the Cashbuilder, taking a -£1,000 negative offer in the Chase round and managed to win £2,666.

UPDATE: Mastrangelo has responded to the social media backlash she received for her poor performance on The Chase, thanks to a brief interview by The Argus.

The Iceland-based company Plain Vanilla Games, developer of QuizUp, has received a $7.5 million investment form Glu Mobile, partly thanks to NBC’s endeavor to create a game show based on the game.

On Tuesday night, Hollywood Game Night averaged 4.64M viewers and a 1.2 rating in the key A18-49 demo. The episode ranked second out of five in its time slot among total viewers and the A18-49 rating.

On Thursday night, Broke Ass Game Show averaged 379,000 viewers and a 0.19 rating among P18-49 demo and ranked 49th among the Top 150 Thursday original cable telecasts in the key demo.
