This week's article will be reviewing some of the latest game show news from the past week in 200 characters or less. Updates include an "enriching" highlight from Monopoly Millionaires' Club, GSN Games absorbing a UK social gaming company, the latest edition of The $100,000 Pyramid looking for contestants to compete on the reboot and Jeopardy! banning Canadian contestants for the time being.

Millionaire is set to kickoff its Movie Week tomorrow with each contestant this week answering questions related to the famous stars and films of the Silver Screen for a chance to win up to $1 million.

VIDEO REPLAY: On this week’s new episode of Monopoly Millionaires’ Club, Dot Curtis of Vassalboro, ME became one of the few contestants to win the $100,000 top prize playing “Advance To Boardwalk”.


GSN Games has acquired the UK-based social casino games studio Plumbee. The announcement was made last Monday and the deal was made for an undisclosed price. 

ITV from Thames has commissioned a new game show called Bang On The Money to air on STV this spring. The show has two teams facing challenges to hit a target number ranging from one to nine.

According to a poll on Quiz Britain, former Bullseye host Jim Bowen was voted “the UK’s favorite TV quiz show host” with 26% of the vote. Bowen was presented with an award from Quiz Britain last week.

Next week’s Celebrity Name Game guest stars include Guillermo Rodriguez, Nia Vardalos, Ali Landry, Tichina Arnold and Dascha Polanco. 

ABC’s The $100,000 Pyramid is officially searching for contestants to compete on the new primetime revival of the word association game show. Go to Castingpyramid.com for more information.

Australia’s Family Feud is currently accepting applications for new families to compete on the Ten Network game show.

Wheel of Fortune’s Wheelmobile will be heading to Santa Fe, NM on March 12-13 at the Buffalo Thunder Resort & Casino from 2:00-6:00pm.

Canadian residents will no longer be allowed to compete on Jeopardy!. The reason stems from how the ever-changing, complex international laws are governing how information is shared over the Internet.

Jeopardy’s annual Teachers Tournament will be airing on May 2-13. The quarterfinals will taped in Los Angeles on February 24 and the semifinals at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington D.C. on April 10.

Last week, Jeopardy! broke down four rare scoring scenarios on its website including tie breakers, no winners after FJ!, Wild Card ties and all contestants scoring negative after Double Jeopardy!.

Last weekend, SNL hilariously spoofed Supermarket Sweep featuring Melissa McCarthy. Unfortunately, the skit did not air during the live broadcast, but was available to view on YouTube.

The Price Is Right’s Dream Car Week was a success with three contestants winning a luxury car by playing Spelling Bee, the Showcase Showdown and Golden Road.

Hollywood Game Night averaged 3.78 million total viewers and a 0.9/3 A18-49 rating/share last Tuesday night.
