In the immortal words of Ron Burgundy, "Boy, that escalated quickly." Three days into the 32nd season and Teacher's Week of the long-running Merv Griffin-produced game show, Sarah Manchester, a middle school math teacher from Silver Springs, MD, made Wheel of Fortune history by becoming the third contestant to win the elusive $1 million top prize in the bonus round by correctly guessing "LOUD LAUGHTER" for her final puzzle of the day. Manchester's grand total was $1,017,490 in cash and prizes including a trip to the Dominican Republic. Manchester is ranked third among the all-time biggest winners on Wheel behind Autumn Erhard ($1.03 million; 2013) and Michelle Loewenstein ($1.026 million; 2008).
