GSN's "Minute To Win It" Premieres Tomorrow & A Brief International Retrospect

Tuesday, June 25 marks the official series premiere of GSN's Minute To Win It with eight-time Winter Olympic medalist Apolo Anton Ohno at the helm. Beginning tomorrow night, new episodes of the former NBC game show will air back-to-back staring at 8:00pm EST until 10:00pm EST every Tuesday night. In case you haven't seen the preview episode GSN aired May 23 after the second season finale of The American Bible Challenge, the gameplay is still the same: a contestant or a team of two face 10 deceptively simple challenges for a grand prize of $250,000 --- if the contestant/team can hang on to at least one of their three lives at the end of their game. Although the network's revival maintained the abrupt commercial breaks in the middle of a challenge in progress and spoiler teasers, GSN has done a good job of reviving this series.

"The Chase" To Debut August 6th On GSN

Today, GSN has announced that the network's newest original game show, The Chase, will officially premiere on Tuesday, August 6 at 9:00pm EST, after an all-new episode of Minute To Win It at 8:00pm EST. The hour-long quiz series, hosted by Brooke Burns, sees three contestants competing against trivia juggernaut Mark "The Beast" Labbett for thousands of dollars in cash. The Chase is produced by ITV Studios America with Bob Boden (Lingo, Family Game Night, Scrabble Showdown) serving as Executive Producer. 

"The Price Is Right" and "Cash Cab" Host Ben Bailey Snag Emmy Gold at 40th Daytime Emmy Awards

The Price Is Right and Cash Cab host Ben Bailey won Daytime Emmy Awards Sunday evening for Outstanding Game Show and Outstanding Game Show Host, respectively. The 40th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, broadcasted live on HLN from Los Angeles, CA, also honored Lifetime Achievement Awards to long-time Let's Make A Deal host Monty Hall and Emmy Award-winning game show producer Bob Stewart (posthumous), to whom we can thank for the Pyramid, The Price Is Right, To Tell The Truth and Password series. This is The Price Is Right's sixth Daytime Emmy Award win and Ben Bailey's third time winning the award for his hosting duties on Discovery Channel's Cash Cab.

Alex Trebek Honored At The National Geographic Society's 125th Anniversary Gala

Long-time game show host Alex Trebek was honored at the National Geographic Society's 125th Anniversary Gala this past Thursday. The event was held at the National Building Museum in Washington D.C. and was presented by National Geographic Society CEO and chairman John Fahey. The famed Emmy Award-winning Jeopardy! host received the Alexander Graham Bell Award, not only for his commitment to geography education, but also for his many years of serving as host of the National Geographic Bee since the competition's humble beginnings in 1989. Trebek was among the list of award recipients for the evening, which included scientist and author Edward O. Wilson (the Hubbard Medal), explorer and filmmaker James Cameron (the Hubbard Medal), oceanographer Sylvia Earle (the Hubbard Medal), humanitarian Howard Buffet (the Chairman's Award) and BASE jumper Felix Baumgartner (the Adventurer of the Year Award).
