BREAKING NEWS: "The Chase" Captures Broadcast Award for "Best Daytime Programme"

After the popular ITV game show was overlooked for a National Television Award earlier this month, the series finally received the recognition it deserved by taking home its first-ever award for "Best Daytime Programme" at the 2013 Broadcast Awards last evening. The Chase was selected over four other nominees in the category including Antiques Roadtrip, Loose Women, Moving On, Phil Spencer: Secret Agent, and Secret Dealers. The awards ceremony was held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London honoring the best of U.K. programming from the "Best Children's Show" to "Channel of the Year".

"Let's Make A Deal" Makes Game Show History With First Ever Twitter Episode

In about a week, CBS's Let's Make A Deal will make game show history by taping its first-ever Twitter incorporated episode. In this special show, the viewers will have a chance to choose certain elements within the day's episode including determining the prizes and The Big Deal of the Day via the show's Twitter feed, @LetsMakeDealCBS. If you want your voice to be heard, log on to your Twitter account (if you have one) and follow the show's Twitter feed or website beginning at 4:00pm EST / 1:00pm PT on January 25. The votes will be tallied during the taping and the majority-voted elements will be immediately incorporated into the episode. The first Let's Make A Deal Twitter show will air January 30 on CBS. Check your local daytime listings.

BREAKING NEWS: Meredith Vieira Leaves "Millionaire" After 2012-2013 Season

After hosting Millionaire for more than a decade, Meredith Vieira will be stepping down as the show’s host at the end of this season. The former The View and Today show co-host and Emmy Award-winning game show host decided to leave on her own merit to pursue other endeavors including working on more projects for NBC News. Vieira made the announcement today and plans to launch her own YouTube channel featuring stories on everyday people’s lives, according to an executive who is familiar with Vieira’s plans. 

"Family Trade" To Premiere on GSN March 5

Along with the premiere of the second season of The American Bible Challenge, GSN announced the official debut date of their first "real-life game" entering the broadcast battlefield: Family Trade. Family Trade will premiere March 5 with two back-to-back half-hour episodes beginning at 8:00pm EST. The new GSN reality series is centered around the Stone family and their family-owned business, G-Stone Motors. 

ITV1's "The Chase" Nominated for "Best Daytime Programme" For National Television Awards

ITV1's most popular daytime game show, The Chase, has been nominated for a National Television Award for "Best Daytime Programme". Last year, Deal or No Deal took home the NTA for "Best Daytime Programme.The Chase, now into its sixth series, made it through the first round of voting, surpassing Deal Or No Deal, Perfection, Pointless, and the most recent ITV1 newcomer, Tipping Point. This is the show's first nomination for any television award. 

Sunmeet Kaur Sawhney Becomes First Million-Dollar Winner on India's "Millionaire"

On May 8, 2003, Nancy Christy made Millionaire history by becoming the first woman to win $1 million during the show's early years in syndication. Meanwhile in India, after crowning the series' first 5 crore (about $1.1 million USD) winner over a year ago, Sunmeet Kaur Sawhney, a 37-year-old housewife from Mumbai, became Kaun Banega Crorepati's second 5 crore winner on January 5. More importantly, she became the very first million-dollar winner on the Indian version of Millionaire.
