News In A Flash!: Quick Game Show Updates #45

Happy weekend, everyone! I have a lot of updates in store for you this evening. Tonight's article will be highlighting some of the latest game show news and reviewing some news headlines already featured on The Blog Is Right Facebook page this week in 200 characters or less from a plethora of Hollywood Game Night . All ratings for syndicated game shows are from the week ending January 26.

ITV has ordered ten, hourlong episodes a new quiz show from Chocolate Media called The 21st Question. The show has one power player facing against ten players in a series of elimination rounds. 

Rob Brydon has been name to host a new Saturday night BBC One game show called The Guess List. The six episode 40-minute first series will debut this Spring.  

A “major cable network” station is now casting for families who are military members with children between the ages of 2 1/2 and 4 years old for a game show where cash for college is up for grabs.

Monday’s new episode of Hollywood Game Night matched its series record among Adults 18-49 by pulling a 1.5 rating in the specified demo. 

Continued: The show also ranked 10th out of 13 primetime network shows on Monday night in both total viewers (4.95 million) and Adults 18-49.

Better Than Rice-A-Roni: Quick Update: The "Hollywood Game Night" Party Game is now available to preorder on NBCUniversal's online store.

SPOILER: HGN host Jane Lynch revealed last week on ellen that they will be taping third season episodes in the Spring and will probable air in the Summer.

Hollywood Game Night will resume its second season on Thursday, February 27 at 9:00pm EST, more than likely due to the Olympic game hiatus. 

Disney Channel’s Win, Lose or Draw will officially debut Monday, March 3 at 5:00pm EST. The show will run during the weekdays from Monday through Thursday.

GSN has named Rebecca Romijn as the host of the network’s and TV's first body painting competition, Skin Wars. The series is scheduled to debut in Summer 2014 with RuPaul featured as a guest judge.

January 2014 is now the highest-rated month in GSN history. GSN has delivered its highest total day audience in households, total viewers and women 25-54.

Good News, Bad News: The second season finale of The Chase saw a slight slip in its ratings compared to last week. However, the show still pulled an impressive 818,000 total viewers on Tuesday.

Jeopardy! has recently won a 2014 Writers Guild Award for best “Quiz and Audience Participation” show. 

Sony Pictures TV has launched another edition of its Jeopardy! mobile game for Android and iOS devices called “Sports Jeopardy!”. The app currently costs 99 cents to download.

All syndicated game shows are up compared to the previous week’s unanimous downfall. Wheel increased 4% to a 7.9 and Jeopardy! jumped to a 7.3 upon seeing a 7% jump. 

Even though Millionaire has reached a new season high of 2.5 upon receiving  a 14% boost, Family Feud was the standout this week rising 7% to a new season high of 6.1.

Not Necessarily Game Show News: The FOX version of The X Factor has officially been cancelled.

Last, But Not Least: This week, The Price Is Right delivered its largest weekly audience since the week ending December 31, 2004.
