News In A Flash!: Quick Game Show Updates #56

Today’s article will cover many game show news headlines and updates featured throughout the week in 200 characters or less along with some that may have been already covered on The Blog Is Right Facebook page from a new game show in the making hoping to absorb some of the success and viewers from ITV's Release The Hounds to NBC's Million Second Quiz surprisingly becoming an award-winning show (and no, it's wasn't Bennie Award). All syndication ratings, with the exception for the ones mentioned otherwise, are from the week ending May 25.

When all hope seemed lost of seeing at least one six-figure winner this season on Wheel, Molly Kyle rose to the occasion and won $100,000 in last night’s bonus round. 

The Million Second Quiz made not have been a winner on NBC, but the series won a Realscreen Award in the Competition category for best "Shiny Floor Game Show”.

This year’s TVChoice Awards game show nominees include The Cube, Catch Phrase, Reflex (Best Entertainment Show), The Chase, Draw It! and Ejector Seat (Best Daytime Show). Voting ends June 20.

BBC Three has greenlit production for new horror-themed game show called I Survived A Zombie Apocalypse. The network is working with Tiger Aspect to create the seven-part, hourlong program. 

The Chase will be back on GSN this summer July 8 at 8:00pm ET for its third season. Quick Fun Fact: The U.S. version has seen more than 17 million viewers tune in since the August 2013 premiere.

Speaking of The Chase, contestants Derrick and Debbie set a new show record for the “Biggest Team Win” on yesterday’s edition of the daytime ITV version with their whopping £80,000 victory

The Price Is Right’s “Socially Awesome Week” concludes with Friday’s #YouDecide Twitter episode. Similar to Let’s Make A Deal, fans had a chance to vote on various elements for the show.

For the week ending May 25 in syndicated game shows, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy both tied at a 6.3; however, Wheel (9.806M) led Jeopardy (9.85M) in total viewers. 

At the end of May Sweeps monthWheel was came out on top among game shows (T-1 overall) with a 6.7, Jeopardy! placed second with a 6.5 and Feud came in third with a 5.1.

Unfortunately, Millionaire was not only the sole year-to-year loser among game shows during Sweeps (-13% to a 2.1), the show also dropped to a 2.0 for the week ending May 25. 

Tonight’s celebrity guest list on an all new Hollywood Game Night include Jenna Fischer, Darren Criss, Jason Biggs, Laura Prepon, Natasha Lyonne and Mario Lopez.
