News In A Flash!: Quick Game Show Updates #81

This week's quick update article will cover some of the latest game show news headlines from the past few days in 200 characters or less including updates featured on the TBIR Facebook page. News updates include a plot of an upcoming episode of an ABC sitcom centering around Double Dare, Barnstorm Games debuting a new Countdown mobile game to add to their library of game show-based apps, 1000 Heartbeats star Vernon Kay hosting a new driving game show and some of the latest game show ratings.

This Wednesday’s episode of ABC's The Goldbergs focuses on Adam Goldberg and his best friend Emmy fiercely competing against each other in a Double Dare audition at their school.

The Price Is Right Live is heading to The Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls, SD on March 4 at 7:30pm. Tickets are now on sale from $34 to $67 and can be purchased on the venue's website.

The Chase and Pointless are among the nominees for the National Television Awards. The 21st edition of the awards ceremony will air January 20 on ITV.

Vernon Kay will host ITV's new driving game show Drive later this year. Drive has celebrities compete against each other in driving challenges for a chance to race F4000 cars in the championship race.

Barnstorm Games has released its Countdown game for Android. The £1.49 app includes the ability to play a full show against the CPU on four difficulty modes or another player on the same device.

BBC Two is planning to revive Robot Wars for a six-episode return series and promises the new shows will feature several updates and new challenges to reflect the advances in robotic technology.

On Thursday night, Broke Ass Game Show averaged 278,000 total viewers (0.13 A18-49 rating) on MTV and 243,000 total viewers (0.13 A18-49 rating) on MTV2. 

NBC's Hollywood Game Night averaged 4.37M total viewers and a 1.1/3 A18-49 rating/share. The new episode once more ranked second out of five in its 8:00pm Tuesday time slot.

Millionaire attracted its highest season ratings in Households (1.4), Total Viewers (2.06M), Adults 18-49 (0.4) and Adults 25-54 (0.5) during the week of December 28, 2015.

This week’s Celebrity Name Game guest stars include Weird Al Yankovic, Mario Lopez, Cat Deely and Rick Fox. All of this week’s shows are reruns and new episodes will air beginning February 1.
