Short Commentary: "Jeopardy!" Fans Speak Out On Arthur Chu Performance

While I was perusing through game show news headlines and updates earlier this morning, there was one that caught my eye and I felt compelled to add my two cents on the topic that has gone mainstream overnight: "'Hero-Villain' Jeopardy! Contestant Returns to Game Show Feb. 24”. Yesterday, ABCNews.com published an article concerning Arthur Chu, a compliance analyst and voiceover artist from Broadview Heights, OH, and his performance on Jeopardy! within the past four days. So far, Chu has amassed a grand total of $102,800. According to Twitter, there were viewers who were less than impressed by his unpredictable and unorthodox approach to playing the game, which is essentially randomly selecting questions. For example, one viewer tweeted, "Who is this dude that ruins the organization of the #Jeopardy board by hunting down the Daily Doubles? You give me a headache”. On the flip side, their are other fans are commending him as a “hero” for his Final Jeopardy wager that made another contestant $26,000 richer.

Here’s my brief take on this "issue":

Stay Tuned!: Jeopardy! "Battle of The Decades” Tournament To Kickoff Next Week

Starting next week, Jeopardy! will be kicking off its biggest tournament yet: The Battle of The Decades tournament. During the next three and a half months, 45 of the best players to ever grace the Jeopardy! set in the show’s lengthy 30 year history will be competing in a series of games from past tournament winners to "undefeated" 5-day champions. These games will lead up to the Tournament Finals, where one contestant is guaranteed to win $1 million on Friday, May 16, the last day of the tournament. Unlike the “Ultimate Tournament of Champions” over 8 years ago, the tournament weeks will not air consecutively until May 5th when the remaining contenders play in the quarterfinal, semifinal and final rounds in a two-week period. The first week of the Jeopardy! tournament will be dubbed as “1980s Week”. Listed below are the contestants who will be competing in the first five games of the special competition as well as a scheduled breakdown of what will be happening in each week of the Battle of The Decades tournament.

Game Show Highlights of the Week: "The Chase", "Mind Of A Man", "Win, Lose or Draw"

It has been about five months since we have seen a week filled with new episodes of a minimum of three primetime game shows. This week, avid game show fans can look forward to new episodes of The Chase and Mind Of A Man on GSN and a first glimpse of Disney Channel’s newest game show Win, Lose or Draw. With the slew of upcoming shows to tune into this week, there are three questions to be kept in mind: Will “The Beast” fall for the sixth time on the U.S. edition of The Chase, will this week’s double-header of Mind Of A Man improve its viewership ratings from last week and will the Disney Channel have equal or better success in bringing back the classic quick draw game to its network? The air dates for all three shows are listed in the schedule below along with crib notes pertaining to each series.

"Mind Of A Man" Debuts To Good Ratings

Happy 2014, everyone! Being the first non-review article of The Blog Is Right this year, I'm going to kick it off on a good note by briefly discussing Mind Of A Man premiering to good ratings last night. Similar to what The Chase on its debut night, GSN aired four consecutive new episodes last night to welcome the new half-hour original series to the network with a two-hour mini marathon running from 8:00 p.m-10:00 p.m. and reran the shows from 11:00 p.m.-1:00 a.m. the next morning. As I have stated on the TBIR Facebook page, the quadruple-header premiere of Mind Of A Man averaged 407,250 total viewers: a respectable start for the rookie show considering the network averages 389,000 total viewers in primetime and 306,000 total viewers overall*. Here's a detailed breakdown of how the show performed throughout the evening, including how the show fared among the key "Adults 18-49" demographics:
